Shoutout to Dubbed anime for finally clicking with me after 15 years of subs

I used to be one of those sub purists, thought dubs ruined the emotion and timing... but my buddy threw on the DBZ Kai dub during a hangout last month and I was blown away by the voice acting. Then I checked out the Cowboy Bebop dub and it actually felt more natural than reading subtitles during action scenes. I compared the sub vs dub of episode 5 of Attack on Titan and the dub version hit way harder with the Titan roars. Now I'm rewatching a whole catalog with dubs and it's like experiencing the shows fresh. Has anyone else switched sides after years of being sub-only?

Man that's basically exactly what happened to me a couple years ago. I was all about subs for like a decade, thought dubs were for people who couldn't read fast enough. Then I was sick one weekend and just let the Hellsing Ultimate dub play and it totally changed my mind. The English voice actor for Alucard is just insane, way more personality than the Japanese one. Now I'll usually try the dub first on any new show, only switch to subs if the voice acting is bad. Feels like being a kid again discovering anime for the first time honestly.
