Hot take: I was at the Kinokuniya in Seattle and overheard two people arguing about whether 'subs vs dubs' is even a valid debate anymore.
One person said, 'It's not about purity, it's about which voice performance actually connects with the character,' and it made me wonder if we're all just talking past each other in these old arguments.

Yeah like simonsingh said, I've felt that too, which is bad for me since I can't read.

Yeah, that "connects with the character" point is key. I mean, sometimes the official dub just misses the vibe completely, but other times an actor really gets it. It's less about one being better and more about which version actually makes you feel something for the person on screen.
