Dropped a long running shonen for a 12 episode slice of life and I get it now
Last month I was 340 episodes deep into a shonen I started back in college and it started to feel like a job. Every arc was a new training montage and a new tournament, and I kept telling myself I had to finish it because I already put in the time. Then my buddy handed me a 12 episode slice of life show and said just watch two episodes tonight. I finished the whole thing in three days and it hit way harder than the last 100 episodes of the other show ever did. Fourteen years of watching anime and I never once thought about dropping something I was bored with. Turns out finishing a show out of guilt is not the same as liking it. Anyone else walk away from a long series and feel weirdly free afterward?
