Bought into the hype about those fancy developing tanks with the auto-load reels, turned out my $12 plastic Paterson tank from a garage sale works just as well after I learned to load it right.

Spent $60 on a Hewes stainless reel because everyone said plastic reels jam, but after three rolls I went back to the Paterson and realized I was just rushing the drying step - has anyone else found that the expensive gear barely matters once you get the basics down?

Learned the same lesson after buying a stainless tank, the Paterson works fine when everything's bone dry.

A dry reel makes all the difference, honestly.
