Warning: My 'Inception' ending swap made a friend really mad

I told my buddy from Boston that Cobb's totem should have wobbled at the end, showing he was still in a dream. He got so worked up, saying the whole point was the open question. It taught me that some people REALLY hold onto the original ending as part of the fun. Has anyone else had a simple idea for a different finish that caused a big fight?

Honestly though, maybe the whole point is that it never really gets resolved. Sometimes you just gotta lean into the chaos and make it part of the tradition.
