Debate: Should The Shining end with the Overlook being redeemed?

I keep seeing people say the hotel should be destroyed at the end. But the book shows the hotel still standing, just empty. Doesn't that make the horror feel more real, like evil lingers? Which side makes the story stronger?

wait wait what happened to their dog?? like at the actual Stanley Hotel? thats so messed up i thought the horror was just in the movie
