Old timer told me I was overthinking my sensor placements.
He said just put them where a burglar would naturally step, not on every single window, and my false alarm rate dropped from 3 a month to zero after I changed my approach last spring - anyone else get advice that made you strip down your installs?

My buddy runs a security company in Portland, and he told me the same thing after I complained about my own false alarms. He said people treat sensors like they're covering every crack in the sidewalk, but a real burglar walks the same path a delivery guy does - straight to the back door or a ground floor window they can jimmy quick. I stripped my system down to 4 zones instead of 12, and my alerts dropped by like 90% in the first week. It's the same with smoke detectors honestly - everyone puts one in every room but the kitchen, then wonders why they burn toast and the whole house screams. There's a rule in a lot of old trades (like electricians I know) that simpler setups catch more real problems because you're not chasing ghosts.
