Last week cost me half a day on a simple install
Customer's panel kept throwing a tamper fault. Turns out the old installer used a 4.7k resistor instead of a 2.2k. Check your resistors before you start, has anyone else run into mismatched parts from previous jobs?

Yeah @valgibson, it's like they just grabbed whatever was closest in the parts drawer.

Oh man, that is just frustrating. I've seen some real head-scratchers out in the field, but a wrong resistor value is such a simple thing to mess up. It's like the last guy just grabbed whatever was in his van without thinking. You think you can trust the existing wiring and then bam, half your day is gone for nothing.
