Found a stat about false alarm fines that shocked me
Was looking into local ordinances after a customer in Sacramento complained about fees, and I found out that the city of Los Angeles charges over $200 for the 3rd false alarm in a year. That's wild considering most residential systems trigger false alarms from user error like forgetting the code. Has anyone else run into crazy fine structures like that in their area?

Yeah it fits this bigger pattern where cities squeeze homeowners for cash while ignoring the real problems. Over in Fresno they charge $150 for a third false alarm and I've seen people just stop using their systems altogether because they're scared of the fees. The same thing happens with parking tickets and speed cameras - it's more about revenue than safety. Meanwhile the city won't fix the broken sidewalks or potholes that cause actual accidents. Makes you wonder who's really benefiting from these fines.

That bit about people just ditching their systems hits close to home. My buddy Sam in Bakersfield quit using his after one false alarm fee and now his house got broken into last month.
