From a stubborn Cessna's engine saga, I'm starting to doubt the sacred cow of full oil changes every 50 hours.
I think extending oil change intervals based on oil analysis actually PREVENTS more wear than sticking to the RIGID schedule everyone swears by.

Old Cessna hydraulic lifters really show the benefit of oil analysis.

Totally agree, we caught some early wear in my buddy's 172 engine last year because of it. Those reports can save you from some nasty surprises down the line.

My friend's Cherokee had a slightly high copper reading in the oil report last fall. His mechanic found a worn bearing during the next inspection, which could have turned into a full engine failure. That one lab sheet basically paid for a decade of analysis right there.
