Hot take: my air fryer basket handle snapped off mid batch and I finished the wings in a cast iron pan
Happened last Thursday, third batch of wings in, the plastic tab just gave out after 4 years of daily use. Tried holding the basket with tongs to shake it and burned my knuckles, so I dumped everything into the skillet at 400 degrees. Anyone else had a handle die on them, and did you bother replacing the basket or just get a whole new unit?
Check the latch mechanism where the handle connects before you toss the whole thing. On a lot of these units the handle is just held on by a couple screws and a plastic clip, and the clip is the part that fails, not the basket itself. If the metal tabs on the basket are still straight you can find replacement handles online for like ten bucks. Also worth checking if your model is under recall, mine was and I got a whole new basket for free after the same thing happened.
