Vent: My AI voice clone project took a whole weekend when I thought it would be an hour.
I wanted to clone my voice for a podcast intro using a free online tool. The first model I trained sounded like a robot underwater... I spent maybe 6 hours just trying different audio samples and settings. Finally got a decent result after using a cleaner recording setup in my closet and letting the model train overnight. Has anyone else hit a wall with voice cloning and found a trick that actually helps?

Wait you trained it overnight? I mean that's a crazy amount of time, I would have given up after the first hour. I guess the closet recording trick makes sense though, maybe it's just me but I never think about background noise.

Yeah, @john648, the overnight thing is a pain but it's the only time my computer fans aren't driving me nuts. I even put a blanket over the tower to dampen the sound. The real killer is when the AC kicks on and ruins a whole take, makes that hour feel wasted.

Modern life is just a long fight against noise you never signed up for.
