Showerthought: The old fountain at the Sunrise Mall in Fresno was completely dry last year, but now it's got a foot of green rainwater.

Went back after the big winter storms and the whole lower food court area smells like wet concrete and moss. Anyone else notice how fast nature takes over a spot once the roof starts to go?

Disagree on the speed thing. That fountain sat dry for years, right? It takes way longer for nature to really move in than one wet winter. Troy977's patio moss is surface level, a quick green coat. Real takeover is when roots crack the foundation or trees sprout from gutters. That mall roof would need to be gone for a decade before you see anything but slime and weeds.

Yeah, moss on a patio is one thing. My old car sat under some trees for a few months last year and the green stuff on the roof washed right off. But the cracks in the driveway? Those little weeds coming up through there are putting in the real work. They’ve got plans.

Moss grew over my patio furniture in one season.
