That constant hum on the portside pump had me stumped

It was just a low buzz but it kept getting louder over three shifts. I pulled the strainer and even backflushed the line, no change. Finally, I got down with a stethoscope and traced it to a worn impeller seal letting in a tiny bit of air. A new seal kit later and she's purring like new again, felt great to solve it.
