Rant: Had to pick between awful beige and nightmare green in my rental kitchen

Honestly, my landlord gave me the choice last month: either sand down the 40 year old grease on the cabinets or just pick one of his two approved paint colors. Option A was this dead beige that looked like old oatmeal, option B was this neon green that would've made my eyes bleed every morning with coffee. I went with the beige because I figured I could at least add some peel and stick decals later. Big mistake, the paint job he sent a guy to do is so thin you can see every brush stroke and a weird orange patch where the old primer bled through. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I should've just dealt with the grease and kept the wood. Has anyone else gotten stuck between two ugly choices from a landlord and regretted picking the safer one?

...and I totally feel you on picking the doomed option. I once chose a "warm taupe" over a weird mustard yellow, thinking I was being smart. The taupe turned out to be the exact color of my grandma's dentures, and I stared at it every single day for two years. The mustard would've at least been funny in a bad way, like a conversation starter. Instead I just had sad beige walls that made my plants look depressed. My landlord even complimented my choice, which should've been the first red flag.
