My kitchen corner crack finally blends in after 4 patch attempts

I had this gnarly crack where two siding panels meet near the back door, and every patch I tried either peeled or were too obvious. Last weekend I got the idea to melt down a scrap piece of siding with a heat gun and work that goo into the crack with a putty knife, then paint over it with a color-matched spray can I got for $9 at the Ace in Toledo. It's been six days now and it actually holds up, you can only see it if you're really looking. Has anyone else tried the heat-gun method, or do you stick to the caulk and touch-up route?

Yep, melted siding goo is the only thing that ever held for me on those corner seams, so you're onto something good there. Just make sure you hit it with a second thin coat before it fully cures, that's where mine started to crack again.
