Rant: My contractor swore a loft ladder was a waste of space, now I'm climbing a ship ladder at 2am

My contractor in Portland kept saying a straight loft ladder was too steep for daily use, but after 9 months of hauling laundry up this thing I honestly think he just didn't want to build the right angle, so has anyone else gotten bad advice from a pro who was just being lazy?

Man, that brings back a memory. My buddy in Eugene hired a guy to frame a closet and the dude spent an hour lecturing him about how sliding doors were a fad. Insisted on these heavy bifold ones that now catch on the carpet every single time. The guy was so proud of it too, took a photo for his portfolio. My buddy still has to shove it sideways with his hip just to get a towel out. Good luck with the ladder though, hope your shins survive.
