Switched from iron-on patches to hand stitching, never going back

I used to slap iron-on patches on my jeans every few months in Portland, but they always peeled after 2 washes. Tried a proper needle and thread with denim thread last week, took 40 minutes but the patch flexes with the fabric now. Has anyone else found stitching holds up way better on knees?

Stitching really is the way to go, huh? I did the same thing with a pair of work jeans and the patch on the knee moves with me when I squat now. Iron-ons always felt stiff and cracked at the edges for me. Plus, hand stitching means you can match the thread color so it almost disappears. Takes longer, but it’s worth it every time.
