My lawyer stopped sending me copies of every filing, and I miss it
When I first appealed my denial back in 2021, my lawyer would mail me a paper copy of every single document she sent to SSA. I kept a binder with tabs and everything. Now she just posts updates to an online portal, so I check it twice a week instead of getting those thick envelopes. Has anyone else had their attorney switch to digital only and then miss something important because of it, like a deadline or a hearing date change?

Tbh, the hearing date change thing is more on you than the portal. Federal court rules say the SSA has to send you notice directly for stuff like hearing dates, so if that got missed, that's not really your lawyer's fault. The paper copies she used to send were just a nice extra, not a legal requirement. I get the binder nostalgia, but I'd rather have a secure portal than depend on USPS losing a critical deadline in the mail.
