A paralegal's offhand remark about 'treating it like a job' stuck with me
I was waiting for my hearing at the SSA office in Phoenix and overheard a paralegal tell someone that the appeal process works better if you treat gathering records like a daily shift, 30 minutes each morning. That made me think about my own stack of paperwork. I spent 2 hours last Tuesday just organizing my medical visit dates into a simple list, and it actually made my next ALJ notice easier to follow. Has anyone else tried a strict daily habit for their appeal folders?

That "treating it like a job" thing hit home for me too. I set a timer for 20 minutes every weekday morning before coffee, just pulling one record or checking one date off my list. It sounds small, but last month I got all my pharmacy printouts sorted into a binder with tabs, which I'd been putting off for like a year. The best part is I don't have to think about it anymore, it's just part of my routine now. My last ALJ notice made way more sense because I could see the gaps in my treatment history right away... you know, those months where I skipped physical therapy. I even started labeling my own notes in the same way they do, and it just feels less overwhelming.
