Picked the jigsaw puzzle over my comfort game last rainy Saturday

I mean, normally when it rains I just boot up Stardew again, but this 1,000 piece scenic lake puzzle had been sitting on my shelf for 2 months. So I gave it a shot instead and honestly it took me 6 hours over two days. The pieces all looked the same near the waterline and I nearly quit at one point. Has anyone else switched to a physical puzzle when their usual relaxing game starts feeling repetitive, or is it just me?

Wait, you actually finished it? I've got a 2,000 piece mountain puzzle that's been my table's permanent decoration for like 8 months now because I got bored after sorting the edge pieces. LOL. Real talk though, I tried the puzzle thing when my cozy games started feeling like chores, and it was honestly refreshing until I hit that middle section where everything looks the same and I started questioning my life choices. The way I see it, puzzles and games are both about that sweet spot of challenge, but puzzles hit different when you're rage sorting pieces by shape instead of rage quitting a boss fight. I respect your patience, I really do, because I'd have probably flipped the table by hour 3 when the water pieces all looked identical. Maybe I'll give mine another shot this weekend, or maybe I'll just boot up Stardew again and pretend I'm being productive.

That "rage sorting pieces by shape instead of rage quitting" line hit me hard, haha. That's exactly the thing, puzzles swap the anger for a different kind of stubbornness. I've been there with a sky section that was basically 500 shades of pale blue, and honestly, I found that mindless sorting almost meditative compared to dying to the same boss twenty times. The middle section is where you really find out what you're made of, and I think that's why finishing feels so much more satisfying than beating a game sometimes. You can't just look up a guide for a puzzle, you have to brute force it with your own patience. If you do give the mountain another shot, just sort by shape first and forget colors entirely, it changes everything. Or Stardew works too, that game is basically a puzzle with no wrong answers anyway.
