I finally ditched Stardew for a pure fishing game
Used to grind crops and mining in Stardew Valley for hours, but last month I switched to a little game called Dredge. Now I just pilot a boat, cast lines, and haul in weird fish at my own pace. Anyone else move from a big sim to something more narrow and found it way more relaxing?

Wow, I gotta say I'm on the complete other end of this. Taking the farming and mining out of a game like Stardew just leaves you with a boring loop of waiting for fish to bite. The whole point of those grindy parts is that they give you a reason to keep going, to plan out your next season, to feel like you actually built something. Dredge sounds like you just float around and watch a progress bar fill up, with none of the payoff. In my experience, the narrow games get old fast because there's nothing to break up the monotony, you know? Stardew isn't about any one chore, it's about how all the chores fit together into a bigger picture. You traded a full meal for a snack, and I honestly think you'll be back to tending your crops within a month.
