Watching old Twilight Zone at 2am in a motel hits different

I was stuck in a Motel 6 outside Tulsa last month with nothing but the TV remote and a bad case of insomnia, so I flipped to the local channel airing the original Twilight Zone marathon. The way those black and white episodes creep through the static at 3am made me realize the silence of a motel room is the perfect audience for them, way better than my couch at home. Has anyone else rewatched a show in a weird setting and totally changed how you see it?

Gaping at the part where you said Tulsa. I drove through there once and the only thing on TV at 2am was a preacher selling prayer cloths, so you got lucky. But yeah, motel rooms change everything. It's the cheap furniture and the weird smell and knowing nobody can hear you if you scream. Watched The Outer Limits in a cabin once with no heat and the episodes felt way scarier than they ever did at home. The thin walls and the highway noise outside just make the black and white creepiness land harder. Home is safe, motel rooms are already half a nightmare.
