Warning: my cat's 'reading session' hid a 3-week vet saga

Luna plopped on my open atlas and stared at the maps like she was studying, but she kept licking the same page. Turns out she'd swallowed a thread from my bookmark, and it took 3 vet visits before they found it stuck in her gut. Any other pet owners dealt with a book-adjacent emergency that turned into a whole medical thing?

Look, I'm not saying your cat wasn't sick, but three vet visits for a thread? That sounds like the vet wanted to run up the bill. My dog ate a whole sock once, passed it two days later, no drama. Cats are weird, sure, but they also throw up hairballs constantly. Half the time they act dramatic over nothing. Did they even X-ray her before the third visit? I'd bet they could've found it sooner if they'd bothered to look close enough. Take this with a grain of salt, but sometimes vets lean into the worst case to make a buck. Hope Luna's okay now, but I'd get a second opinion next time.
