Found my grandpa's investment goof from the paper era
I was sorting through old boxes and saw a stock certificate for a pork company. He meant to buy into a new computer firm but copied the ticker wrong from the newspaper. For a decade, he thought his tech investment was just really slow. Now, with apps, you see the company name right there, so beginners can skip that mess. It's wild how much simpler it is today.

With apps showing names now, always confirm the ticker yourself.

Seriously? How often does that even happen now? If your app shows you're buying "Pork Bellies Inc" but you wanted "Tech Solutions LLC", you'd notice right away. It's not like grandpa's newspaper days where you're squinting at tiny print. One quick scroll fixes it, doesn't seem like a major risk anymore.

Totally agree with this! I had a close call last year when I almost bought shares in a mining firm instead of a media company. The tickers were one letter off, but the app showed the full names side by side. Like @faithbrown said, always confirm the ticker yourself, because that preview saved me from a big mistake. It's crazy how much easier it is now with all the info right there. Do you find that apps have made you more careful, or do you still rush sometimes?
