Vent: My dad tried to critique my band's demo...

He compared our guitar riff to the sound of his lawnmower... said it should have more 'melody' like the ice cream truck jingle. Now every practice, we can't stop laughing about it.

Funny how the harshest feedback can be the most useful. Used to get so mad at that stuff, but now I see it helps you find what actually works. That ice cream truck line is pure gold though.

My buddy's boss tore his report apart, but the next one was flawless.

I hear you on harsh feedback having value, but that line about finding "what actually works" misses something. Sometimes a boss tearing a report apart just teaches you to give that boss exactly what they want, not how to make a truly better report. I saw a guy get so scared of criticism he just started copying old formats. The work got "flawless" but also boring and safe.
