Can we talk about the rush to replace instead of repair?

I see so many guys recommending a whole new system when a $50 capacitor is all that's needed... It feels like we're forgetting how to actually fix things. Just last week, I saved a customer over a grand by swapping a bad relay instead of pushing for a replacement. But everyone acts like I'm crazy for not upsizing the job.

Aren't they just after our money?

But @nguyen.xena, is that REALLY the main problem here?

The tool companies themselves are a big part of this. Their whole business model relies on selling new units and proprietary parts. It just makes more sense for them to push replacement over teaching real repair skills.
