PSA: Your 10 minute bleach cap is wrecking hair integrity
I see stylists in my salon mixing 30 vol for every single highlight and it creates a brittle, straw-like texture after just a few services. Has anyone else switched to a 20 vol max for virgin applications and seen way better retention?

My friend Sarah's stylist used 30 vol on her virgin hair last year, and she had to cut off four inches of breakage after just two sessions.

A hair colorist's blog I follow said 30 volume on virgin hair is way too strong for most people. She explained the developer opens the cuticle, and high volume can cause the hair to swell and snap off. They usually recommend starting with 20 volume for virgin hair to lift color more gently. It's crazy how much damage the wrong developer can do!
