What if the style book doesn't have exactly what they want? Sometimes clients still need to mime a detail the book misses, like how much to take off the sides. Using both together might work better, lol.

Man, you hit the nail on the head with that. I had a client once who brought in a pic from a style book, but the model's hair was totally different from theirs. We had to just wing it with hand gestures for the layers. It was like a game of charades but for haircuts, lol. Honestly, sometimes the book is just a starting point, and you gotta read the room. That client ended up with a better cut because we ignored the book and went with what suited their face.

People get too hung up on perfect communication. A haircut is just a haircut, not brain surgery. The style book is a tool, not a rule book.
