Spotted a sneaky flaw before it turned into a disaster

I was doing a basic check on a used shotgun I just bought. Found the firing pin was sticking a BIT, which could cause a slam fire, but a good clean and lube fixed it RIGHT up. What's the weirdest hidden issue you've found on a gun?

Why worry when most used guns are fine, @victor_lane60?

Winchester's cracked stock ended my neglect of used guns.

Learned that the hard way with an old Model 12. Now I always check the tang area under the stock first.

So one cracked stock means all used guns are risky? Even @grantchen's tip about checking the tang feels like making a big deal out of something that hardly ever happens. Most used guns are probably fine without all that fuss.
