Update: I was scoring my own glass for years before a new guy in the shop asked why I didn't just use the cutter on the straight edge
It was a 4-foot pane for a Denver loft, and I'd been doing it the slow way since my uncle showed me in '08. Anyone else have a 'well, duh' moment that saved you a ton of time?

Oh man, the "slow way since my uncle showed me in '08" hits home. I spent two whole summers at my dad's shop hand sanding cabinet doors before I noticed the orbital sander hanging right there on the wall. I just never questioned the method I was taught. It's crazy how you can get stuck in a routine and miss the obvious tool that cuts the work in half.

My uncle's 2008 advice cost me about a thousand panes.

Four summers of hand-sanding cabinet doors before I found the orbital sander hanging right next to my bench. My uncle swore by the "old way gives a better finish" line, but I bet he just liked watching me suffer. I still have the calluses to prove it. That first day with the sander cut a two-week job down to two days. Still can't believe I didn't notice it sooner, just assumed that's how it was supposed to be done.
