Always thought the 'cold seal' trick for punty transfers was just studio gossip until I saw it work perfectly on a 12-inch vase at the Tacoma open house.

Has anyone else tried this method on a piece that size and had it hold?

Seems like a risky move for something that big.

My uncle's a carpenter and he swears by letting glue joints cure overnight, even when the bottle says ten minutes. That extra wait feels like a waste of time until the shelf doesn't fall off the wall. The cold seal trick is the same idea. It goes against the rush to get things done. People skip the proper set up because they want to move fast, but watching that vase hold proves the slow way is often the right way. It's a good lesson for any hands-on work.

Wait, your uncle glues shelves to the wall? That's the part that got me. I always thought you had to use brackets or anchors into the studs. Is the glue just for extra hold on top of screws, or is he literally just using glue? I'd be scared to put anything heavy on that.
