I finally switched from a standard fiberglass face shield to a full hood with forced air.

Last month in the brass pour, the heat was making my old shield fog up bad. I got a Speedglas 9100FX system after a guy in Toledo swore by it. The difference is night and day - no fog, no heat on my face, and I can actually see the pour the whole time. Has anyone else made a switch that made a tough job way easier?

My cousin works in a big shipyard and he said they switched their whole crew over to those forced air hoods last year. He told me the accident rate for facial burns dropped by like 40 percent.

It's funny how the right gear can change everything... I see it with my old hiking boots versus the new ones. You just stop fighting the basics and can actually focus on the work. Good tools are quiet like that.
