My old boss told me to never use carnations in a wedding bouquet

He said they were cheap filler and brides would hate them. I used them anyway for a budget wedding last month, and the bride loved the pop of color and scent. Anyone else have a 'rule' they were taught that turned out to be totally wrong?

Funny how many of those 'rules' are just gatekeeping. People get so attached to old ways of doing things.
