I was setting up for a wedding at the botanical gardens in Denver and the bride's mom told me my centerpieces were 'too sad'
She pointed at the white roses and eucalyptus and said they looked like a funeral. I mean, I thought it was classic and elegant, but it totally threw me. Now I always ask for three photos of what 'vibrant' or 'happy' looks like to the client, not just their color palette. Anyone else run into this where what you think is neutral, someone else reads totally different?

Ugh, white flowers are such a minefield. I started adding one bright pop, like a single coral peony in each centerpiece, and that weirdly fixed the "sad" comments.

Wait, "sad little faces staring at the guests"? That's so specific it's kind of wild. I can totally picture someone looking at an anemone and getting that vibe, but it would never cross my mind. It just shows how people see things so differently. I guess once you hear that, you can't unsee it.

Got a similar complaint once for using white anemones. The client said they looked like "sad little faces staring at the guests." Now I avoid them for weddings unless the couple specifically picks them from a book.
