A homeowner in Boulder watched me pull up her old carpet and just said 'that's the ugliest subfloor I've ever seen'.

Oh man, that reminds me of a kitchen demo where the client got super emotional about the old linoleum. He made us stop and took a bunch of pictures of this hideous green and yellow pattern. Said it was the exact floor his grandma had in her house when he was a kid. He actually cut out a square to keep. People find memories in the strangest places!
