Used to always push Portra 400 to 800 for indoor shots, but a roll of Cinestill 800T from a show in Denver made me switch.

Oh man, I feel that. Pushing Portra was my go-to move for years in dim bars. But Cinestill just nails those neon and stage light colors straight out of the camera, doesn't it? That halation from the lights in Denver must have looked killer.

Totally get the love for Cinestill's halation, it creates such a dreamy vibe straight from the roll. I still push Portra sometimes for that gritty, contrasty look when the scene needs more punch than glow. Honestly, the best part is how each film has its own mood, like picking a lens filter for the whole night. Makes me want to load up both and just shoot a whole show back to back to compare the results.

Yeah, the back-to-back shoot idea is solid. Did that once with a concert, Portra 800 pushed to 1600 in one body and Cinestill 800T in the other. The Portra held shadow detail way better in the crowd, but the stage lights just bled that perfect red on the Cinestill shots.
