Turned a kitchen corner into my ferment zone, got a smell question

I cleared out a corner for all my pickle jars and kimchi pots. I mean, after a few days there's this sour tang in the air. Idk, is that normal or did I do something wrong?

Oh, that sour smell is pretty common when you're fermenting stuff. My kitchen corner gets the same way with my jars. Just means things are working as they should.

Worry that calling it normal makes people ignore real problems. That sour smell could mean bad bacteria growing too. Maybe check if it's actually safe instead of just assuming it's fine.
