I spent hours typing up my grandma's pie crust recipe, but the printed version feels cold.
In my experience, transferring family recipes to digital formats often loses the warmth of the original handwritten notes.

Scan the original handwritten note to keep her actual handwriting in the file. Then just type your own little notes in the margins about why it works, it makes the digital copy feel lived-in.

It's just a pie crust recipe at the end of the day, not a museum piece. The warmth comes from making it and eating it together. Seems like a lot of fuss for something that gets covered in filling and baked.

Read something about the Smithsonian saving handwritten recipes because the notes in the margins tell family stories. Makes you see old recipes different.
