Stripped a screw on my front door hinge at 11 PM last night and used a rubber band to get it out

I was trying to fix the squeaky hinge on my 50-year-old front door in the dark with a flashlight between my teeth when the screw head gave out, so I grabbed a thick rubber band from the junk drawer, pressed it over the stripped head, and the extra grip let me twist it free in under a minute without damaging the wood. Has anyone else found a weird use for rubber bands around the house?

That rubber band trick is one of those things that seems too stupid to work until you're desperate enough to try it. A buddy of mine swears by using sliced rubber bands as cheap grip pads for picture frames that keep sliding off his wall. I also cut them into little loops to keep my charging cables from tangling in my desk drawer.

Wait, do you actually find the rubber band trick works for picture frames? I've tried it a couple times and they just dried out and got brittle after a few months, leaving little sticky marks on my wall. The cable management thing makes more sense to me though, I can see how loops would keep things tidy in a drawer. But for the frames, I'd rather just pick up those little felt pads at the dollar store, they hold up way better and don't look so janky.
