Showerthought: My oily skin method shifted from a client's simple note
I always stuck to strong astringents for oily skin until a regular client mentioned her face felt calmer with a gentle hydrating mask I tried on a whim. This made me look into it, and I found out stripping oils can trigger more production. So I started using lighter lotions and serums in my facials for oily types. My own skin got less shiny after a few weeks of testing this at home. Now I'm unsure if this works for everyone or just some cases. Has anyone else had a moment like this that changed their routine? How do you talk to clients about trying less harsh products? I could use some tips from those who've been down this road.

That's so true, I went through the same thing with my own routine. It's wild how sometimes the gentler approach actually works better in the long run.

Explain what tipped you off that stripping oils was the actual problem, like was it just less shine or did you see other physical signs first. How do you even start that talk with a client who's convinced they need the strongest stuff to feel clean, without sounding like you're dismissing their own routine.
