Spent four hours chasing a phantom door lock fault at the Grandview apartments

The call was for a door not closing, but the lock kept showing a fault code that made no sense. I checked every sensor and wire from the cab to the machine room, twice. Turns out a tiny piece of broken plastic from a tenant's moving box was wedged in the sill, just enough to trick the system. Ever have a simple job turn into a half-day puzzle because of something silly like that?

That "tiny piece of broken plastic" story is the worst. I always carry a bright flashlight now just for the sill and track, because you can miss that stuff so easy in the shadow. A quick vacuum pass before you even get the tools out saves so much time.

My old foreman, @drew_west, once found a whole screwdriver in a window frame.

Ugh that's the worst kind of find. So when you finally spotted it, was the plastic actually blocking the door from seating all the way, or was it just messing with the sensor's beam? I'm trying to picture how such a small thing could throw a lock code and not just cause a door bounce.
