Tried insulating my garage with that foam board from Home Depot, now I’ve got a bat hotel
Picked up a few sheets of the pink foam board last month thinking I’d slap it up in an afternoon. Spent 6 hours cutting and fitting it, only to realize I left quarter-inch gaps everywhere. Next morning I heard scratching and found a family of bats living between the foam and the wall. Had to rip it all out and call a guy to seal the soffits first. Anyone else deal with critters messing up their DIY projects?

Hold on, did you seal the soffits after you pulled the foam, or before you put the new stuff back up? Because batting those gaps is only half the battle if they already had a way in from the outside. I'm curious if the foam just gave them a cozy spot to squeeze into, or if they were already nesting in the wall cavity and the insulation just made it worse. Your mileage may vary, but it sounds like the real issue is a bigger entry point they found before your project even started.

Man, are you writing a novel or just insulating a shed?
