My slow cooker saved me after a nightmare week of burnt dinners

Last Tuesday I had one of those days where everything went wrong. I got home late from picking up my kid from soccer practice and realized I forgot to thaw the chicken I wanted to grill. My husband was already hangry and the kids were complaining. I remembered I had a bag of frozen meatballs in the freezer and a jar of grape jelly and some chili sauce in the pantry. Threw it all in the crockpot on high for two hours and it turned into this sticky sweet tangy thing that everyone actually ate without fighting. That was the best unexpected dinner I've had in months. Has anyone else discovered a random combo like that when you were just desperate?

Honestly, grape jelly and chili sauce on meatballs is a classic party thing, but it's genius for a quick dinner too.

Oh man, grape jelly and chili sauce sounds like such a weird combo but I gotta admit it works. I always get paranoid people will judge me for it so I just call it "sweet and tangy meatballs" and hope nobody asks for the recipe. My boyfriend walked in once when I was dumping the jelly in the pan and he looked at me like I lost my mind. I told him it was a secret ingredient and he just shrugged and ate like three servings. Honestly the only downside is when you run out of toothpicks and people start double dipping with their fingers. But hey, if it tastes good and takes five minutes, I'm not gonna complain.
