My sister swore by browning meat first, I thought it was a waste of time
Last month my sister kept telling me I had to sear the chuck roast before putting it in the slow cooker. I figured it was just extra work and dirty dishes for no reason. Finally tried it with a 3 pound roast from Aldi and the difference was huge, way deeper flavor in the gravy. Has anyone else been stubborn about skipping a step that turned out to be worth it?
Funny enough I used to skip rinsing rice because I thought it was pointless, turns out I was eating a bunch of starch. Makes me wonder what other steps I'm too lazy to try.
