Appreciation post: my cheap slow cooker took 4 hours to finally get up to a simmer on low yesterday.
Has anyone else had this happen with an older model and found a good fix, or is it just time for a new one?

Check your manual because low is not meant to get to a simmer. That setting is just for keeping already hot food warm. You need to use the high setting to actually cook anything.
