PSA: That 1980s DIY book with the creepy cover is actually a goldmine
Found one at a library sale for 50 cents and it had a whole chapter on fixing a broken lawnmower carburetor I've been struggling with for months, has anyone else found useful advice hiding behind awful covers?

My buddy found a 1972 guide to home plumbing with a kid on the cover holding a wrench that looked straight out of a horror movie. Inside it had this GENIUS tip about using a blowtorch to loosen rusted pipes without burning your house down. Sometimes the ugliest books have the best secrets tucked inside.

Those old DIY books didn't waste space on pretty pictures, they just told you how to fix stuff because people actually needed to know. The ugly covers probably kept them cheap for the people who actually used them.
