That self-help book my aunt gave me sat on a shelf for 2 years before I opened it in a laundromat
I was sure "The 7 Habits" was just corporate fluff, but the bit about starting with the end in mind actually made me save $300 on a used pressure washer rebuild last month. Has anyone else had a book from a thrift store flip your whole opinion on something you were dead set against?

That "corporate fluff" line hits different when a random cookbook gives you a better life tip than any CEO ever wrote.

My grandmother's 1970s Joy of Cooking has a page on "how to poach an egg without losing your mind." Better advice than any leadership seminar I sat through. Real life stuff. Not some made up "synergy" garbage. Just simple steps that actually work. CEO wisdom never told me how to fix a broken hollandaise or calm down after a bad day. Cookbooks don't lie to you. They just tell you what to do.
