PSA: Stop using mesh tape on inside corners if you want them to last

I keep seeing guys on job sites in Phoenix using mesh tape for inside corners and it drives me crazy. Mesh is fine for flat seams but it has way too much stretch for corners and you'll get cracking within 6 months every time. I learned this the hard way after having to go back and fix 12 corner beads in a single house in Glendale. Anyone else notice this or am I just old school about paper tape?

Agree with you 100 percent man. I did the same thing on my first house in Chandler and learned my lesson real fast. Paper tape in corners is the only way to go if you want it to hold up through the dry heat and settling. Mesh just flexes too much and pops right off the bead after a few seasons. I had to go back and redo six corners on a rental property and it was a nightmare cutting out all that old mesh. Stick to paper for corners and you'll save yourself a ton of headache later.

Learned my lesson real fast" is putting it lightly haha. My buddy tried mesh on his garage corners in Phoenix and by the second summer they were all cracked and peeling, looked awful. He ended up paying a guy to rip it all out and start over with paper, cost him way more in the long run.
