Fire-rated drywall checks are getting intense in my town

Hey everyone, the building inspectors in my area are really focusing on fire-rated drywall installations lately. (You know, like in those new condo buildings going up.) I just had a job fail because the tape on the corner beads wasn't done right. They're pulling permits and checking everything closely now. So, maybe take a second look at your fire-rated details before calling it done.

Have you seen how every little rule is getting super strict now? It's not just drywall, it feels like all the small stuff in life has extra checks. I notice it with food places getting shut down for tiny messes or cars failing inspection for minor issues. Probably because after a fire or accident, everyone panics and adds more rules. But it makes simple jobs so much harder and more stressful. Your tape problem really shows how deep this picky checking goes.

Ugh, don't even get me started... I tried to put some duct tape on a fraying cord last week and got so stressed about doing it "right" I almost gave up. My lines were crooked and there were bubbles, it looked terrible. I'm my own worst inspector sometimes.

Kelly's point about rules coming after accidents is fair, but I see those drywall checks differently. That tape job isn't just a small thing, it's a fire stop. If the fire-rated assembly isn't sealed right, the rating means nothing. It feels picky until you see how fast fire can move through a gap that was supposed to be sealed.
